Known as the Song-Beverly Act, California's lemon law is described as one of the best by Jack Gillis in The Car Book 2005. It applies to "new motor vehicles," or any used vehicle sold under manufacturer's warranty-so you're covered if you buy a pre-owned car with warranty coverage, same as if it were new. Leased vehicles qualify as well. Known as the Song-Beverly Act, California's lemon law is described as one of the best by Jack Gillis in The Car Book 2005.
