My wife's 2000 Boxster is quicker than my 2000 330xi (which of course is slower than the E36 M3). The higher rev limit in the Boxster will make it just as fast as the E36 M3 in short sprints. You aren't considering an M-Coupe (not as good looking IMO, but.)
