Just a tought - but I wonder how many Cay owners have owned a car with large, wide performance tires before. I had this problem initially as well, but it has been substantially mitigated after rebalancing. I know what you're thinking - it might not last. But perhaps it would be useful to collect data on which wheel and tire packages are more likely to be associated with the vibration. For me it was 19" wheels with the Pirellis. Rebalancing took between 5 and 40 grams per wheel on my TT.
I was told by the resident gear-head at work that rebalancing is common issue with wider rims and larger tires. I've never owned a car with anything larger/wider than 215/55 16".
Got the TT out on Lake Shore Drive this morning at 6 am, and I remembered why I dropped $86K on a car I don't get to drive that much. A 5000 lb car through the 25 mph switchback at Oak Street at 60 without drifting outside those narrow lanes!
