| Message: | Engine problems are extremely rare and when they occur we have always been able to replace the engine with a good used one from a crashed car or have rebuilt the engine (despite others claiming it needs replacing) for a fraction of the new cost. Because the cost of stripping it down is added elsewhere (we do not charge for it) and labour rates elsewhere are much higher - a new engine may be a better option for them but we have not yet found an engine that we could not rebuild. Typical problems that resulted in the solution elsewhere being "new engines" were found to be, (1) a broken cam chain, (2) a broken chain tensioner, (3) a damaged intermediate shaft bearing, (4) a damaged big end bearing etc. Not many places can rebuild the engines but we have tooled up for it. The same applies to the 996 except we add (5) a cracked cylinder head, (6) a bent crankshaft, (7) a cracked cylinder liner (that we replaced). The engines are very well designed and manufactured but modern production methods mean that - in all things - cars, motorcycles (washing machines included) production prices can be lowered if we accept that say one in a thousand fail - but the other 999 are superb. This keeps prices low and profits high - but is unfortunate for the 1 in the 1000. You cannot escape from this either or the product prices itself out of the market. Hopefully our capabilites render even that odd one in a thousand - viable to repair and should stop this nonsense about the model needing a different engine fitting etc. We also offer to will buy in a car with engine damage - for those who want out. Right now - prices are low and the quality is good - enjoy! Baz Hartech www.hartech.org | ||||
