We just had the same thing happen with our '00 Boxster at 15k miles. Porsche did give us a new engine and we paid about $3k for the R/R. They claimed that they 'really didn't know' what had happened and it wasn't worth the time to investigate and the engine was sent back to Atlanta. Our experience was this... we didn't get a favorable response from our local dealer so we had the car moved to Brandywine Porsche (see me earlier postings for the whole story). Stick to your guns until you get what you want.
