Message: Huge difference.
The 924 has a 2.0 liter engine designed and built by Audi.
The 924 was a joing design venture between Audi and Volkwagon.
Audi abandoned the project, VW bought the rights and made a car that didnt perform or sell very well.
They took it internally and redesigned it and called it the 944.
They made the engine a MUCH more complicated 2.5 liter (3.0liter for the S2) with balance shafts and all kinds of cool stuff. (read that as higher maintenance and more expensive)
But the 924 having 95 - 115 hp and the 944 having 143 - 208hp (247 for the turbo)

If it was me I wouldnt waste money trying to swap the engine, wiring harness, and computer, and just sell the 924 and buy the 944.
You get the cool body and upgraded EVERYTHING to go with it.
