| Message: | 90GTAZ I suppose this might seem somewhat confusing. Chris/Mobious might be a chemistry or physics major. They love to discuss things in grams, liters, neters and degrees C. Us engineers go with the flow and the U.S. never cared to adopt the metric system. For a short period some of the car companies (Chrysler was one, if I remember right) did so but the real high-tech outfits (like aerospace) never made the switch. I retired from aerospace in 1997 and my company was still in english units. Frankly, there are some aspects of the metric system that make life easier to deal with (all the units are factors of ten - that's how you end up with centi-meters and milimeters) but energy units can be damned confusing. Anyhow, if you are taking your car on a track and pounding the daylights out of it, you don't need to talk to me. At 74 years old I have finally learned to obey speed limits (uless I know I can get away with speeding). The Whyoming Highway Patrol are a bunch of road parasites. Incidentally, to my friend Mobious, I've always wondered what in the hell you are talking about with the escape "pods". Are you an astronaut perchance? And, if so, I have to tell you that we in the aerospace field have been working on true escape pods for years. As far as I know, we still don't have a practical one. | ||||
