| Message: | I'm sorting out a 1983 928S Euro spec that has a checkered past. It's an intriguing challenge but the car is fundamentally sound. When bought it had three different tire sizes, and three rims of one width and an oddball, as follows: Front- BBS RS 017 8Jx16 H2 ET62 shod in 225/50VR-16 Rear R- same rim as above, shod in 245/50VR-16 Rear L- BBS RS 016 9Jx16 H2 ET36 wearing a 255/50VR-16 and every tire is a different brand, naturally. I attributed the visual difference to the different tire size/brand, refusing to fathom that they might be two different sized wheels in the rear. Ideally I'd like OEM disc rims, 7 inchers in front, 8's in back. This combo eludes me yet, so I resolved to use the current wheels, thinking I had two matched pairs. I ordered OEM spec tires for this combo and was surprised to find what I did when I dismounted the current tires in order to perform the extensive cosmetic work they need. They're the gold centered very busy mesh style that was so popular back in the 80's, I don't care for them much, and it's possible the some previous driver lived in Curbville. The outer rims are beyond ugly but I can't seem to find any 16" wheels wider than the OEM 7 incher. Full upgrade to 17" is not in the cards, nor is reverting to an all 7" wide set. This car is a preformance exercise first, looks way down the list. But the stance and look of the wider rear tire is important too me. SOOOOO... If anyone has the 9 inch BBS wheel listed above, gold or not. let me know. This just arose yesterday, so I've just begun hunting. | ||||
