I realize this subject has come up quite a bit in the forum, but I can't find anything that is exactly like what mine 82 911SC with a 3.0 liter did last night. I just bought it and drove it to a friends house and took a couple of them for a ride. I let the car sit in the driveway for about twenty minutes. When I can out it wouldn't start. The car would not ever turn over. I heard a pump running behind me each time that I turned the key on. I don't know if it was a fuel pump or an oil pump. I am pretty unfamiliar with air cooled engines. This pump ran probably about ten times before the car finally lit. I did not have the clutch all the way down to the floor board and that is why it didn't start. It cranked over just a split second and started and sounded good, but there was a significant amount of smoke coming out the tailpipe. I had good oil pressure so I drove it home about 1.5 miles (less than 7 minutes) when I got home there was very little smoke and only when I reved the engine. Is this something to be concerned about? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
