Message: I had a similar problem on my 82. It would be running fine and just BAM....die....My problem seems to have been the ignition switch itself. I noticed on my last big ride when it died the tach died first. The Bentley wiring diagrams steered me to the switch so far that seems to have been the case....the problem was so intermitent I am not completely sure
