System Fault Message (110 views) (156 thread views)
Message: I was waxing my 2005 911s and started hand buffing the non driver side front bumper area close to the headlight. There followed an electrical series of snaps and buzzes and then nothing more. (no smoke or odor of frying electrical) Since then I get a "System Fault Visit Workshop" message on startup. Nothing else seems to be amiss. I tried a scan tool and did not get any significant trouble codes. I tried a local Porsche repair shop who used a computer version scan tool and indicated that there was a computer problem that would likely need a re-flash of one of the computer systems as their reset did not clear the issue. I talked to the warranty dealer to arrange a service date and he asked a couple of question including have you had the battery replaced, have you jumped another vehicle and have you had the car polished? I said yes to the polishing. He asked if I used a high speed polisher as there have been some issues with the polisher generating enough static electricity to damage the front fender computer. My service appointment is not for a couple more weeks but in the mean time has anyone run into this?
