| Message: | yes to all your questions except for some of the sheet metal. The fan housing & sheet metal around the cyls & heater boxes will be the same. You can use the rear pan piece & side pieces above the valve covers from any 356 & they will install onto the 912 engine. If your car is 12V then you can use a VW starter from a 68 or new automatic beetle and it will mate with the 912 flywheel. If it's 6V, then you can eat the core charge & buy a VW Bosch #113 starter which was only used briefly in Europe on 65/66 VW beetle & Karman Ghia automatics, they are very scarce. Both the 12V & 6V automatic starters have the right pinion gear to mate directly with a 912 flywheel. Not sure what you'll need to do for pressure plate & throw-out bearing, it was too many years ago since I messed with mine. The 912 oil filler cannister must be shortened to clear the deck lid. I just cut a 3" or 4" segment out of the middle of it & welded it back together & worked fine. gale 58 356A 1600 Super sunroof coupe ex 66 912 ex Intermechanic Speedster with a 912 engine in a 67 VW trans & chassis | ||||
