Re: Are 356 Replicas Lagit? (97 views)
Message: Some replicas are nice and some are not. Two major differences is some are made on shortened VW Pans whereas others are made on Tube Frames. here is the companies that make them now or have made them in the past.
Intermechanica= This currently is the best maker using Tube Frames now. They used to use VW Frames. They are the most expensive also
Vintage Speedsters= Second to the best. I think they are using Tube Frame now, Some of the screws and sheet metal is not Stainless or even plated very well so I've seen some of these cars with crome starting to rust. Other than that it's a good car
CMC= Sold there molds to Vintage and were always made on VW pans. Fit and finish was not great
Beck= Also VW Pan and was considered a good car but I don't think they are making them anymore.
The above makers all make Speedsters(convertbles. I hear there is a company making a Coupe but I don't know who they are
