I dont know who "they" are that you refer to. But obviously this guy is a nutter. Most Islamic scholars are pretty much dumbshits lacking any meaningful education. Not all of them, but many who are labelled "scholars" are really not.

But in some ways he is no different than the folks who believe the rapture will happen in the next 50 years.

The sad thing is that secular thought is being pushed to the side while the nutters get center stage.

I suppose what interests me most is why "secular" thought has failed that people have to turn to superstition and fundamentalist religon to find meaning.
