| Message: | Don't feel bad about the wantign a better ride. Runflats have very stiff sidewalls and these pages are full of threads on this topic. You should not need a highter profile tire. The switch from runflats to a normal 16" tire should be enough. I am on my second Cooper (both not MCS cars)and have the sport supension + that is found in the MCS. I liked the ride I got with Falken 512's some years ago. They are an all seasion tire. They loose their snow performance some after a year or so but wet weather handling was better than most tires I've own through the end of the useful life of the tire. In your case, I would stay away from performance tires as they tend to have stronger side walls which help with turn in feel but hurt the ride. If your are very snake bit by this issue consider going one size over stock. You'll get better gas mileage in real life, but you have to adjust your caculations as for each mile traveled the odo will be a little short and you speedo will be reading a little slow. Tire Rack (tirerack.com) has a very nice tire finder guide that will help with the sizing. John | ||||
