| Message: | | I would never even consider buying a CVT. Way too many failures across the board, from every manufacturer that uses them. I was considering buying a new Maxima because that car really delivers the bang for the buck. Up until they went with a CVT exclusively, that is. Deal killer.
In my opinion, MINI should implement a program whereby they will replace any failed CVT at cost, for life. No sweat off their backs. Cost on the tranny itself, and warranty labor time and rate for the labor. That would be a step in the right direction if you're speaking about fairness. All transmissions fail eventually. But few of them are $8K propositions and I suspect no $20K car on the market other than MINI has an $8K transmission.
As always, just my humble opinion.
