I have a 2005 MC with the sports package, which came with Goodyear runflat tires from the factory. I have about 22k on the car. In the last few days I heard a sound from my rear wheels like something rubbing as they went round when I was starting off cold down the driveway. I thought perhaps it was a brake problem. I took the car into the dealership this pm for them to look at it. Their conclusion was that the Goodyear tires don't fit the rim properly and that after some wear there is an increasing noise problem, which they say will get worse over time and spread to all the tires. The noise is particularly evident when running cold. As the tires warm up they expand and fit properly and the noise disappears or is reduced. They suggested that I get a different brand of tire and that Goodyear will refund me 80% of the original tire cost because there is only 20% wear on the tires. This is my wife's car and she obviously doesn't drive it recklessly! Has anyone heard of this problem before? Is it the brand of tire, or is it a general problem with runflats? Should I replace them with non runflats? Any thoughts or recommendations? Anyone else had this problem?
