Re: Performance tires are quite poor in the snow (1870 views) 
Message: To elaborate a bit more on what Pamlico said. A wide low profile tire has a wide & short footprint. This causes the tire to ride up on top of the snow, think flotation. Not what you want in snow. A narrow tire has a long narrow footprint & knifes through the snow. There are many other considerations, but those are the big ones. Any dedicated winter tire will be worlds better that what's on your car now.
