One discussion was of an Infiniti dealership refusing a failed water pump because the maintenance fluid flush required some 10K miles earlier had not been done! I heard a couple of stories (and I am confident in the source) about *some* aftermarket equipment screwing up MINIs - a remote start was incorrectly connected to the wrong signal wire causing intermittent failure issues with the lights, sunroof, and other equipment. Hard to diagnose and expensive in labor for the owner when the issue was eventually traced - repeated flat battery eventually traced to an aftermarket device (unknown if the device was faulty or just wrongly installed) As said, the complexity of cars today makes it essential that an aftermarket install is done well, or the result could be a sick and hard to diagnose car.
