In a front wheel drive car like the MINI with a 60/40 front wt bias, the front brakes do 70-80% of the braking and will wear at least twice as fast as the rear pads. So it's definitely not a driver caused problem. Since it has happened twice now, I would pay to have a reputable local brake speciality shop put your car up on the lift and check the adjustment and release of the emergency brake on the rear.
I think that the emergency brake is adjusted to close or it doesn't release completely some of the time, when disengaged. This can be a poor design issue or a manufacturing defect that should have been covered by warranty. Have an independent mechanic, jack the rear up, and apply and release the e-brake 8-10 times and see if there are times when the rear wheels are hard to turn. If so, get a written statement from the mechanic and take it to your MINI SA to get reimbursment for the previous 2 brake jobs, and more importantly get him to replace the return spring or readjust the e-brake so it won't happen again in 10k miles.
