| Message: | So, when you take your MINI in for service, do you find they diagnos problems and make faux resolutions? Example, That guy with the $12k Wiring Harness qoute from his dealer... not covered by warranty. I beleive he had a quick start installed professionally. He decided that cannot be the answer to his problem. Towed his MINI a couple hundred miles to an auto electronic specialist who ran a complete DIAGNOSTIC and found his wiring harness to be FINE. Problem was the actual computer, which I'm sure will be covered by a warranty. Now, a story like that makes me nervous. I can see the service bay running the OBD2 scan, reading it as electronic failure code something or another.... walking away... without checking, writing it up as a harness failure, all harnessing needs replacement, etc. CHACHING $12,000 BILL, Not covered by warranty. Imagine you are in there with let's say...You have aftermarket PIAA rally lights installed...LEFT headlight goes out, you replaced the bulb. Still out. Service runs a check, and they tell you the same. Wiring Harness needs to be replaced... you have driving lamps, warranty void. $12K please. It's very much like the problem with the windshield. Oh, you have a crack? Let us FIND a chip and blame it on that, therefore voiding the warranty. A windshield should not crack due to a micro chip. Especially at the ALARMING RATE that these MINI windshields Have Been. This is a cheap way to escape the warranty. It's sickening and too many people have ended up paying for their own windshields. That alone sounds like a class action suit. I was fortunate enough to have read about someone elses experiences with their windshield and immediatly threw masking tape all over the Crack in mine. Luckily, no chips could be found and blamed for the crack. This is just a small rant, post yours. It's a growing concern amongst the masses here in the world of MINI ownership. Thanks for reading. | ||||
