Message: back in the day of W107 - AMG was a catalog company,
with just a few shops installing the really expensive
AMG hard parts like cylinder heads, cams, exhaust,
wheels, body aero kits.

If you search for an old (late 1970's - early 80's)
AMG catalog/brochure, you'll learn about the early products.
Complete "AMG"'d cars were really a european market thing.
Here in the US, it was a ala carte pick and install of
the cataloge bits

there is also a book published "Customized Mercedes-Benz"
which coveres all the 'tuning' houses and AMG is covered in that
