What to look for in buying an R129 (281 views) (297 thread views) 
Message: Good afternoon:

I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for advice on buying an early or mid-90's 300SL or 500SL. Are there any particular problems that I need to look for? If you could point me to previous discussion threads on that, I'd be grateful.

And in case any of you know of a vehicle like this for sale: I'm in western Canada and my first choice is to find an original 500 - no AMG kits or bodywork, and I'd like original wheels, a clean CarFax, and a good service history. I'd like to keep my purchase price to a maximum of about $12,000 USD.
