| Message: | I have been doing the workaholic thing again, and this is the first weekend I have been home for a couple of months. Went out, looked through my parts box, started cleaning and figuring out hoses to replace. YES all of them but it is a little spaghetti like under there. Took the thermostat housing apart just “because” and found NO thermostat. Peachy. Missing- broken ground strap to the metal housing, so no wonder the gauges and fans were not working. Who knows, have not traced the coolant sensor wiring yet. I see the coolant system has not been taken care of, and the previous technician, I think, missed the concept of what o-rings do. Grey silicone everywhere and of course looks like seepage to go along with it. What is the story with all the metal corrosion? Probably has not had coolant in it for years from the looks of the heater valve. I traced the patent number on it and found a reference to a 1970 Tbird heater valve, but could be the patent for the valve is universal, and I think just order the Maserati part. Decided to drain the gas tank, because a couple of other Maserati people had told me to, and in the process of removing shields to the fuel pumps, found the cute Italian contraption behind the transmission pan, directly under the rear trans mount. See pics 5-8. Got me stumped, runs from the air injection pump, but the air is directly injected into rails on both exhaust manifolds, not routed down here. ??? I got all the parts, service and electrical manuals, but have not found anything yet. Also did a carfax and found it was labeled a California gross polluter in 2004. Great. The saga continues.
