Quattroporte III 1984 4.9 - Maserati Forum - Quattroporte, Spyder, Biturbo, Classic Maseratis, Vintage Maseratis, and past model

I have just purchased a Quattroporte III with 39K miles on it (driver, not running, unregistered last 4 yrs), and decided rather than just abandoning this unused forum, will start posting whether anyone else responds.
4.9 runs like crap, and leaks coolant from the valley behind the carbs. Have made a number of calls and have been informed that probably is the intake manifold, and will pull and check this weekend time permitting. Also instructed to drain the gas tank IMMEDIATELY, from the drivers side, and change fuel filters before trying anything else.
Also the trunk does not open and have been instructed to pull rear plate and look through the hole under the plate, and there is a latch or catch to open the trunk.
Some info is better than nothing.
