Is the Lotus Elise a Safe Car? - The Lotus Elise Forum

I have been seriously thinking about getting an Elise for the past couple of years as a dedicated track car/sunday morning toy.

The wife has been pressuring me to sell my Aprilia RSV1000R Factory, and I'm thinking the Elise is the closest thing to a motorcycle on four wheels...in other words, serious fun factor :)

Now here is where the dilema is...obviously a car is always going to offer more pprotection than a motorcycle, but my wife is concerned that the vehicle may be unsafe because of it's size. Knowing the inherent dangers of driving at the track and back roads, we would both feel better knowing that Lotus had developed the Elise with keeping the passangers safe in mind.

Has anyone out there seen or heard how these vehicles hold up in crashes?

How would the vehicle be rated...average, above average, below average, etc...
