You can take them off if you want to but I don't think you will like the way the car looks without them. The two "toothy" pieces cover bumper pieces that absorb low impact and would not look very clean with those sticking out. So the "toothy" pieces, beleive it or not are there for astetics. You could replace the XK8 parts with an XKR grille though or even pain the pieces the same as the rest of the car if it bugs you that bad. Oh, and the XKR grille is $620.00
