Mark,
Depending on what year your XK8 is, you may have an issue to take up with your dealer. On the early XK8's the fluid they used for the convertible top had a tendency to turn into a gel. There is a Technical Service Bulletin (501-33) on this. I would have expected your dealer to fix it free of charge. My own top fluid was replaced under warranty for failure to raise the top.

Unfortunately I don't have any answers for you on your current problem, but I wonder if your fluid was replaced with the right kind of fluid or if it was replaced with the "old" fluid and perhaps it has gelled again?

Jeff

I am having a problem that keeps coming back. And each time it means having to back to the dealer. But there must be a better solution to this.

Puting the top up or down requires you to have a speed less than 10 MPH. If you go over 10 MPH the process stops. Well, I have had the issue where I am moving a long an it goes a hair above 10 MPH the process stops. But it stops for good and I can get it to restart.

The last time this happened the dealer said it was the fluid for the pump and they changed it($450.00). Now it has happened again and it can't be the fluid again.

Does anyone have any information on this? Is there a fuse or a reset button that I need to locate? To get the pump going again?

I welcome any help......

Mark
