My 2001 XK8 had it's 10,000 mile service and I am a bit puzzled as to why the oil change schedule is so long. Typically 3000 miles for most cars. A friend of mine who is a GM service mgr made some crack about jag not wanting those cars to last... For peace of mind I would like a more frequent oil change, maybe this is unreasonable? (I drive 7miles each way to work stop and start + fwy).

I have owned a few Corvettes, and every one I have owned, I have switched to Mobil 1.....I change the oil at a 6k mile interval. When I bought my Jag, I changed the oil at 3k and have been using Mobil one since, at a 6k oil change. If you have ever seen an engine run on mobil 1 from it's first day to over 150k, it will astonish you as to how clean the engine is, no sludge, clean as a whistle.
I spoke to Jaguar about the use, and they had no cons against it....so do yourself a favor and you won't regret the change. There is no reason why you can't change your oil more frequently anyway, except for the cost to do so, and it takes 7 quarts.
