As an ex-dealer technician I can tell you that we never installed these on XK8's unless requested by the owner. Holes must be drilled and many owners don't like the look of them and they are willing to take the risk of a $10.00 ticket.

However, the dealership that sold you the car is obligated to install the bracket. Legally they should have installed it when they sold you the car if you bought it in California. Just call them and tell them you need it installed. Do NOT let them try and charge you to do it. Tell them it should have been on there when you bought it and if they do not install it you will contact the proper government offices.

Oh, and the plate does not look that bad when installed.
