We've had ours (99 Saphire Blue XK8) 6 months now and lucked out with no tickets yet here in Silver Spring, Maryland. We were told by the Pennsylvania dealer LB Smith Jaguar that the trick is to leave the other license plate in the trunk attached to the bracket, and when or if you get pulled over, tell the cop "it just fell off - we're going to the dealer next week to have it put back on correctly!"

Maybe they're stiffer out there in LaLa land about front plates. It seems like they're tougher about alot of things there.

Let us know how awful the surgery is to your car, and how bad it looks with that plate on. Sorry you got popped. Eventually we will undoubtedly be in the same boat.
