Well, I'm a BMW Nut, but seriously, get the M3 convertible. Have you driven it? IMHO, depreciation & reliability issues on British cars will kill you, as beautiful as they are. The Porsche, sure, if you can afford it. But most people would kill to have an E46 M3; & not consider it a "compromise".

Trying to decide whether to purchase Jaguar XKR, Porsche Carrera 4 Cabriolet or BMW M3 convertible. Pros and cons to each. Love the luxury and power of the XKR convertible but will miss manual transmission. Porsche--what's there to say--trunk small, price large. BMW--kind of a compromise position. All opinions welcome.
