Hi,
My 97 convertible has the very same problem, only with mine at will work about 30% of the time. It acts like a dirty connection somewhere. When I first bought the car (used) I had this problem and I solved it by working the wheel up and down dozens and dozens of times, kind of like exercising (or exorcising? ;-)) the motors, just in case they were getting stiff. I've read of this problem before and suspect a general flaw but don't know for sure. When my car goes in for it's 50,000 mile service next month I'll be asking them about it.

Jeff

Hello,

I have a 97 coupe and have a problem with the auto steering column tilt away feature. The column goes up and in when exiting, but only goes out (not down) when I get back into the car.

Any suggestions to fix this problem?? Other than this small problem, I love the car. Thanks in advance.
