My 97 XK8 is special and is my contribution to the garage. Every time I get in it and drive it, it is a special event. It isn't the fastest, it isn't the best handling, but as a total package, it can't be beat. It is that British feeling that pure competence and performance is not enough, plus the sound of the engine, the ambience and luxury of the interior, the complete beauty of the exterior. A very competent car in all respects.

The BMW is rough and hard and a boy-racer look. It is balls-out, high tech, tomblike black interiors, and a blast to drive with no style, but boy does it put a grin on your face, and can beat the pants off my XK8.

I feel the Porsche is exactly like you say, and the one I am least familiar with. A wonderful car, unequalled performance, kinda small everywhere but the front seats and a large price that can go to infinity with the custom options and personalization that I would like to do.

In summary, my 2001 X5 has always stayed outside in deference to my 97 Jag, and next week I get a new M5, and it will sit in the weather while my Jag continues to be that classy cat I keep for emotional reasons. I have low miles, but I have had no problems, unlike my X5 which I must trade because it is in the shop every month. Of course, the M3, like the M5, is much better quality and built in Germany, not SC like the X5.
