I have a '97 XK-8 'vertible w/ 50k miles. The wheel shakes and jitters on relatively minor bumps (and is worse at high speeds). I've put on new tires (helped some), had them aligned and balanced (twice, by two reputable dealers) (this helped a little), and had the front wheel bearings replaced (also helped a little). I've got this problem down from intolerable to just annoying, but I'd love to see some kind of fix.

My dealer says, "Oh - it's a sports car. You're just 'feeling the road' ". I've owned a Porsche 944, BMW M3, Z3 roadster. . .I've never felt a vibration like this in another car. I love my car -- and this is the only thing about the XK8 that bothers me day-to-day.

You have my support.

I have a Porsche and I suffered from steering wheel vibrations during several months. Usual dealer said the same "it's a sportscar you're feeling the road" thing which is just a bad excuse when they actually have no idea what to do.

You should defenitely try having your wheels balanced while on the car. That can solve the problem in some cases. Also check your tires for roundness - yes it sounds stupid, but tires can actually be unround. My front tires were and had to be shaved to remove excess material. Combined with balancing the wheels while on the car it solved my vibration problem. Maybe the same things can help you?
