Advise:
Shop around and give yourself a choice:

here are some sites that you can add your zip code to to see what is available and at what price.

Engage with several dealers and take the test drives. Ask for their best price and leave (they will follow up with you)

With a bit of negotiating you should get a feel for the price range. So long as they can still "ask the manager" there is room.

Pick the dealers/cars (you must have a choice) you want, and make an offer below asking price. Explain that you know this may be below what they would prefer to sell but you feel that you should at least check if the other dealer can meet your request. They will give you what you want, if not, leave. If the other dealer doesn not play, take your pick becuse you have hit the bottom price.

Any Jag dealer will give you the extended warranty. Most will give you an over night loan of the car (recommended so you can find all the things that need attention).

You must be prepared to leave the dealer. Their #1 goal after getting you to test drive and pick a car is to keep you in the dealership (or get you back). You end up in a trap when you negotiate over anything other than the fact that you can get what you want else where or in a few weeks time.

In the next 2 months I plan to look for a used XK8 in the Long Island, N.Y. area. I rarely see any advertised in the local paper, Newsday, so I will most likely be dealing with a Jag dealer. In all liklihood I will be looking at 98's, unless I can get a great deal on a 99 or 2000 model. Can anyone with experience buying a used Jag from a Jag dealer give me tips on how negotiable they are from their asking prices, and any extras I might be able to negotiate, or any other realted advice. Thanks!
