Oil should be API SH or ILSAC GF-2 quality. The recommended viscosity is 5W/30. You can use 10W/30 or even 15W/40 in moderate to hot climates. I know of a '97 coupe that is having major engine work done because the owner used oil too thick to allow the variable valve timing mechanism to work properly.
