Convertible Top Liner Question (archive)

Hello,
I've got a 97 XK8 convertible and have a question regarding my convertible top headliner.

My headliner is coming loose around the oval "hand-grab" near the front bow. This I'm sure is due to much driving to and from work with the top down without the conv. top boot on. My question is this: Is there supposed to be a trim ring around this opening? On my car the headliner material simply glues around the opening without any sort of trim ring there, but I've found photos of other XK8s that appear as though there may be a trim ring around this opening to prevent this type of problem. None of the photos I've found are clear enough to be sure if there's something there or not.

My car was delivered to the dealer in November 96, so it's a fairly early production model, perhaps if there is a trim ring it was a later addition. If your car does have this trim piece I'd like to know what year it is, in case I need to have my dealer order one for me.

Thanks in advance,
Jeff Cline
