You would probably be better off having a good performance shop play with the weight bias between the front and rear suspesion. Also, check your tire pressures.

The plus to the additional weight would be better rear traction. However the XK8 seems to have a desire to bring the rear around when braking hard into a corner. This may accentuate this trait. In normal driving conditions you will experience slower deceleration and increased braking distances from the added weight.

The weight in the trunk will of course be the cheapest solution, though.
