My '97 also did this. Only stalled in the morning after a strong acceleration, followed by a steady speeed of around 70 mph. The dealer solved it by cleaning the "butterfly valve" (sorry, I don't know exactly what or where that is). It hasn't happened since.

Jeff,
My '98 has stalled a couple of times - but in both cases I was low on fuel and making a hard right turn. I think the fuel sloshes away from the fuel pump pick up. I don't let the tank get too low anymore.

Well folks this was a problem with the throttle body getting to dirty. This is a known issue with 97/97 jags and the problem does have a service bulletin. The simple fix is to have the trottle body removed and cleaned.

I am also experiencing this same problem with my 97 stalling. Seems to only happen on the freeway when I'm coasting. The tank is full. I have to pull over put it in park and then it starts right up. This happened several times last night. I am taking it to get looked at. I'll let you know what develops.
Tim
