I agree with you about the enclosed subwoofers. I have always used enclosed subwoofers in my cars. This time I want to save space since there is very little in the xk8 now. I would also like to stay as close to stock "looking" as possible, hence keeping the original head unit. I this where compromises will have to be made. I'll take a very good sounding system (instead of great sounding) over my oem any day.

Thanks for the advice though! And your right, a crossover is a must.
