I have had an XK8 for 7 months. The only thing I don't trust 100% is the switchgear, but if you buy one under warranty then it is replaced free of charge. Mine is a 98, but apparently the newer ones have more reliable switches.
Also. pre March 2000 cars can suffer from excessive cylinder lining wear due to the sulphur content of the petrol, this is in the UK anyway. You can have the engine checked for free by a Jag dealer
