phone while it is in the vehicle because it is installed in the place specified by the manufacturer and uses the manufacturer's phone. My homeowner's policy covers the phone while it is out of the car, just like my other personal porperty anywhere in the world. Any other phone and you have to pay extra for coverage, or take a chance. I verified this coverage with the insurance company directly, because I wanted to purchase a rider to cover my Jag and my BMW factory phones...I can't afford to replace them if lost or stolen. The insurance company said I was covered at no cost. Check with your company.
