1) I love my new car! It's a 2001 XK8 in Roman Bronze (great new color for 2001). No NAV system (didn't want it), but I do have the 18" wheels.
I agree, great color
5) In the first week since I have had the car; I have already received several pits in the hood from rocks. Is it just bad luck, or is the low profile subject to road dings more often?
Theses pits/chips are a problem that has to be dealt with no matter what type of car you drive. A few things that can add to the proble include excessive high speeds, tail gating (especially trucks), and bad roads including construction sites. You can defend yourself with a bra (availible at Jaguar I think, or maybe a product called Xpel that the BMW guys rave about. I know nothing about Xpel, but if you ask about it on the board I'm sure you'll get some info. The other thing you should do is to minimize the visibility of the damage. I beleive the only way to do this is to remove any wax that may have built up in the chips. The dried wax cakes up white and really accentuates the chips or any scratches a car may have. I do not recomend touch up paint, in my opinion it looks worse than a chip.
Good Luck and enjoy your car!

P.S.
Do not give up speeds you may enjoy fore the sake of your paint. Enjoy your machine, it is built more for driving than admiring from the outside
