1) I love my new car! It's a 2001 XK8 in Roman Bronze (great new color for 2001). No NAV system (didn't want it), but I do have the 18" wheels.
I've got the nav. I did not think it was important, but now I love it. I've got the 18" wheels also, because I went with the XKR. I understand that the 20's on the Silverstone and XKR 100s actually make the car slower.
2) Alpine Audiophile Stereo - Does it bother anyone else that they changed out the full range speakers in the rear seat, they still exist in the coupe, for subwoofers only. Supposedly it was because there was no room for a subwoofer on the rear deck of the convertible. It's a little strange having sound only come from the front of the car.
I have a coupe and the sound is great. Nice balance. You might want to try the positioning on the radio.
3) Wheel vibration from 50-70 miles per hour. I have a shimmy/vibration in the above speed range and have seen other posting relating similar experiences. Has it been determined that it is the wheels or brakes, or is the car just in need of an alignment or balancing?
No wheel vibration, but a slight "buzzing feeling" in the steering wheel over 35. Part of owning a jag I guess.
4) Noise in rear, below the top. If you have the motor on and the top up, there is a slight noise from the rear like a broken speaker or hiss. It is very slight, and you can only hear it if you are parked, the radio is off, and there are no other sounds. It sounds silly, but it still bothers me on the rare chances I do hear it. Anyone else have the noise?
5) In the first week since I have had the car; I have already received several pits in the hood from rocks. Is it just bad luck, or is the low profile subject to road dings more often?
I have not noticed any more dings than any other car.
Any thoughts?
