I am looking at getting a 97 or 98 xk8. Curious about the quality and reliability (i.e. expensive maintenance or repairs). Are they any good in winter conditions?

I had a 97 Xk8 coupe....must admit it was not that reliable.

had the thermostat go out, and needed towing,

had a tune up and then needed the engine mounts replaced.

had the steering pump go out, then when I drove it off the lot, the car overheated and back to the dealership to get another thermostat.

the automatic tilt away steering wheel had a mind of its own, so I switched it off.

had the stability control failure light come on several times.

However, when it did work I absolutely loved it. Ended up having a baby and sold it for a more practical car, as you cannot fit a child seat in the back and deactivating the front air bag was more trouble than its worth
