You mention the option of tinting the window and that this is what you had done. Long story short, my dad was talking to his son (a NJ state trooper) who told him that he doesn't think this is legal. Do you know anything about this - is there a %tint that is acceptable? I don't know if you have any answers, but I thought I would give it a shot.

In California it is not legal to tint the driver side windows or windshield beyond the factory tinting, if any.
