I don't think he'd even need to use velcro in his car--the headliner is pretty soft, so I think that the 'hook' side of velcro would just stick to that. All you'd have to do is have the velcro affixed to the shade, and then it would grab ahold of the headliner.

Another alternative might be to get a clear suction cup which would affix to the rear window and then somehow attach the shade to it.
