Mobile phone kit for XJ8 / XK8 etc (archive)

Pardon me for posting to the XK8 forum, but the XJ8 forum doesn't seem to get used - anyway, this problem is common between XJ and XK.

I'm delighted with my XJ8, except for one thing...
I want to fit a mobile car kit, and the jag dealers told me the only way to have a mobile that functions with the dashboard controls is to by the Jaguar (Jag version of Motorola Star Tac) phone and car kit for £996

This seems steep - has anyone had a normal car kit fitted and integrated with the dashboard / steering wheel controls?
