rear drivetrain noise ? (archive)

Has anyone experienced drivetrains noises on XK8 and XKRs ?

Almost since the begining, my XKR had a differential whine when turning hard, like a Uturn, while on the throttle. Recently, it also has developped a slight clonk at very low speed when lifting off or stepping off the throttle. Only when it's real hot, after at least 40 miles of driving.

Delaer test drove the car and ordered a new diff which they will install next week.

But in the meantime, I heard of a club member who's had similar symptoms on his XK8 which came back despite a new diff.

any opinions ?
